We support hybrid working here at SelectScience, with up to 2-days a week in our Corston office (for this reason will are only considering candidate based in the UK, and close proximity to Corston, Bath).

 

The Role - Scope

An exciting opportunity to deliver an editorial strategy aimed at growing global scientific engagement. The role involves creating diverse content—news, articles, videos, webinars—and managing communications to support sales and sponsorships. Candidates must have a degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Science, or Analytical Chemistry, with at least two years of business experience, ideally in publishing. Strong communication, creativity, and organizational skills are essential. The position includes occasional international travel and offers excellent benefits. A passion for science, digital publishing, and improving global health is key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and delivering an editorial/marketing plan to grow scientist and clinician membership and engagement, to enable sales and sponsorship opportunities
  • Increasing industry awareness of SelectScience and develop a network of scientist, society and manufacturer contacts
  • Developing and managing content and communications (original news stories, expert articles, video interviews, product reviews, buying guides, webinars, email newswires, show reports and others)
  • Managing marketing activities for increasing membership and engagement
  • Attend international conferences and exhibitions, visit institutes and science organizations, support sales visits to sponsors.

 

Experience & Qualifications


Essential:

  • Scientific qualification – e.g. Life Science, Analytical Science, Biomedical Science or similar (to at least degree level).
  • Science writing and/or content production
  • Understanding of laboratory technology, topics and trends.
  • Understanding of the importance of professional social platforms such as LinkedIn to network and build personal and professional brand.
  • Strong resilience and stress management skills
  • Excellent communication
  • Above average organization and planning skills

Desirable:

  • Previously worked for a scientific publisher
  • PhD
  • Experience communicating with online audiences.
  • Proven success of attracting users to content.
  • Experience in commercial publishing
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with others.
  • Experience generating user generated content and developing partnerships with external clients
  • Product marketing or marketing experience and/or content production.
  • Strong existing LinkedIn profile in the clinical science field
