The role

As the driving force behind all content/editorial elements in the field of pharmaceuticals and applied sciences, the Pharma and Applied Science Editor will be at the forefront of content ideation, orchestrating task allocation and ensuring flawless delivery for the field. From audience development, dominating social media, contributing to unforgettable events, forging media partnerships and sales support, they’ll be fundamental in our industry-leading presence.
  

Collaborating closely with our editorial team, the Pharma and Applied Science Editor will ensure content excels, with timely delivery and unparalleled quality and standards. They will be responsible for the pharma and applied science strategy, providing support for sales, and collaborating with client services and production in this domain, fostering partnerships that propel us to the forefront of innovation. Staying on the pulse of industry advancements, particularly from the techniques perspective, the Pharma and Applied Science Editor will continuously expand their contact network of scientists and manufacturer experts.

 

With an eye for excellence, the Pharma and Applied Science Editor will establish KPIs and lead the charge in achieving them for pharma and applied sciences content output and engagement. Reporting to the Senior Associate Editor, they will offer invaluable support across all products and techniques relating to pharma and applied sciences matters.
 

Snapshot of the role:

  • Develops pharma/applied sciences content strategy and drives ideation and content creation and delivery, fueling creativity. This will include the Scientists Channel and Scientists Choice Award, where relevant.
  • Creates a range of quality multimedia content in line with agreed KPIs.
  • Helps establish a captivating social media program for the field, driving engagement, content output and performance in line with agreed KPIs.
  • Helps manage pharma and applied sciences events calendar and event attendance, forging strategic media partnerships, and holding responsibility for relevant summits.
  • Expands their network, connecting with scientists and manufacturers to stay at the forefront of industry trends.
  • Continually builds out the audience and membership.
  • Elevates sales team efforts by showcasing the impact of pharma and applied sciences content, participating in calls and meetings with sponsors.
  • Travels to industry events, producing targeted content and providing unparalleled event coverage.
  • Proofs and edits pharma and applied sciences copy, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of three years’ experience creating digital content as part of an editorial team.
  • Evidence of commercial acumen.
  • Demonstrate prowess in editorial teamwork and CMS, delivering results with precision.
  • Exhibits an unwavering commitment to accuracy and detail, setting the bar high for quality content creation.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working for a scientific publisher
  • Experience of marketing platforms/tools such as Vimeo, Hubspot, Zephyr, Echobox, GA4 or PowerBI
  • B2B experience
  • Journalist training / experience
  • Line management experience

Qualifications:

  • Scientific degree – pharmaceutical and applied sciences related
