Help shape the future of how scientists discover trusted information online. SelectScience is looking for a Product Manager to lead the next stage of commercial growth for our SelectScience channels. This is a rare opportunity to shape digital products that connect scientists with trusted content and leading suppliers, while creating clearer, stronger and more valuable revenue opportunities for the business. In this role, you will bring together product thinking, audience insight, data and emerging technology to create better user journeys and stronger commercial opportunities. Working closely with Editorial, Client Services, Sales, Data, Tech and Marketing teams, you will own the product vision and roadmap for the SelectScience channels and help us build experiences that are useful, trusted and easy to discover. About the role This is a hands-on product management role with real influence. You will lead the evolution of our digital product experience, from site structure and user journeys to search, recommendations, personalisation, analytics and content workflows. You will use data, experimentation and continuous discovery to identify the right priorities and turn them into clear, measurable outcomes. You will also help SelectScience respond to one of the biggest shifts in digital discovery: the rise of AI-assisted search and generative engine optimisation. You will help build strong foundations for discoverability, trust and audience value while keeping our editorial standards at the centre of the experience. Key responsibilities - Own and develop the product roadmap for the SelectScience channels.
- Improve audience growth, engagement, conversion and customer value through data-led product development.
- Work with internal teams, customers and users to understand needs, test ideas and prioritise the right opportunities.
- Create clear product requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria for delivery teams.
- Lead improvements to user experience, site structure, search, recommendations, content workflows and commercial journeys.
- Use analytics, dashboards and testing to measure performance and guide decisions.
- Identify opportunities to use AI responsibly to improve workflows, discovery, personalisation and content operations.
- Monitor market trends, competitors and changes in search behaviour, then turn insight into practical product priorities.
- Support go-to-market planning for new features, including internal communication, rollout plans and success measures.
About you We are looking for someone who enjoys building products that solve real problems. You will be confident working across strategy and delivery, comfortable making prioritisation decisions and able to bring people with you. You will be curious about how audiences behave, excited by what data can show us and motivated by creating digital experiences that make a clear difference. You may already be working as a Product Manager, or you may have held product responsibilities in a digital publishing, media, content, marketing or audience-led environment. Scientific experience would be helpful, but curiosity, clear thinking and strong product judgement are just as important. What we’re looking for - Experience in digital product management, digital publishing, media products, content platforms or audience-led digital channels.
- Strong understanding of product development, including discovery, prioritisation, user stories, delivery and iteration.
- Experience using data, dashboards and testing to make decisions and improve outcomes, ideally with practical exposure to tools such as GA4, Zephr, HubSpot, customer data, marketing automation or content platform systems.
- Ability to work effectively with editorial, commercial, data, engineering and marketing colleagues.
- Understanding of search, discoverability and changing digital audience behaviour.
- Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
- A practical, outcome-focused approach with the confidence to work independently.
- Experience developing personalised user experiences, recommendations, smarter search or topic-based journeys would be a plus.
- Experience with AI-enabled product features, automation, analytics tools, testing platforms, customer journey mapping or service design would also be helpful.
- A scientific background, or experience working with scientific, technical or specialist audiences, would be welcome but is not essential.
